2026 KEYNOTE SPEAKER HIGHLIGHT

Prof. Chris Ogbechie, Professor of Strategic Management, Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University

Prof. Chris Ogbechie is a Professor of Strategic Management and former dean, Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University. He is also a  visiting professor at Strathmore Business School, Nairobi, Kenya.


Professor  Ogbechie has a first-class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering  from Manchester University, an MBA from Manchester Business School and a  PhD in Business Administration from Brunel Business School in the UK.


He served as the fourth dean of Lagos Business School where from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2024.


He  has vast experience in marketing, strategy and corporate governance  derived from his work as Head of Marketing/Sales at Nestle Nigeria and  his consulting work with Nigerian, Ghanaian and Kenyan firms over the  years. While in Nestle, he held international positions in Malaysia,  Singapore and Switzerland.


Professor Ogbechie teaches strategy,  sustainability and corporate governance at the Lagos Business School and  Strathmore Business in Nairobi, Kenya; he is also the founding Director  of the School’s Sustainability Centre. His research interests are in  strategy in turbulent environments, strategic leadership, board  effectiveness, and corporate sustainability. Professor Ogbechie has been  involved with several start-ups. He was Chairman, Board of Directors,  Diamond Bank Plc and is on the board of several private and public  companies including; Red Star Express Plc (FedEx), National Salt Company  of Nigeria Plc. (NASCON), Health Partners and Palton Morgan Holdings.


He  has several publications in financial services marketing, strategic  planning, corporate social responsibility and corporate governance. His  first book “Strategic Marketing of Financial Services in Nigeria” (2011)  provides essential information for marketing practitioners, especially  in the financial services sector, for improving the effectiveness of  their marketing. His second book “Re-engineering the Nigerian Society  through Social Marketing” (2012) is his contribution towards changing  societal values in a positive way.


Professor Ogbechie has penned  several journal papers on corporate governance and sustainability  notably: ‘How Large is Too Large and How Small is Too Small? Exploring  Kuznets Inverted-U Relationship and Optimal Board Size in Nigeria  Company Boards.’ International Journal of Business and General  Management, ‘Corporate Social Responsibility in SMEs: A Shift from  Philanthropy to Institutional Works?’ Journal of Business Ethics and  ‘Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Nigeria: Western Mimicry or  Indigenous Practices?’ Journal of Corporate Citizenship.


He has  also presented various papers on corporate governance at international  conferences. His paper “Corporate Governance Practices of Publicly  Quoted Companies in Nigeria” is published in the International Journal  of Business Governance and Ethics. And his journal article “Board  Characteristics and Involvement in Strategic Decision Making: The  Nigerian Perspective” is included in Emerald’s peer-reviewed reading  list of quality journal articles and book chapters. Besides teaching and  researching, he is involved in community service and philanthropy.

Francis Ben Kaifala, is the Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission of Sierra Leone. Before now, he was Senior/Managing Partner in the Firm Kaifala, Kanneh & Co., a private law firm in Freetown. He is a household name at the Sierra Leone Bar and had served as the Public Relations Officer and Spokesman of the Sierra Leone Bar Association in the year 2012-2013. He is currently also the President of the network of Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa (NACIWA).                                         

As Head of the Anti-Corruption Commission of Sierra Leone, his result-oriented leadership has favorably led that institution success in the fight against corruption with record improvement in all global and local indexes, surveys and reports. 


Francis is a product of the Sierra Leone Grammar School and Fourah Bay College - University of Sierra Leone, and the Sierra Leone Law School. He holds the interdisciplinary LL.M (Master of Laws) in Law and Economics jointly awarded by the School of Law and the School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary, University of London, in London, United Kingdom. Dr Talabi  supervises final stage research projects for students undertaking the  Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN III)  certification examinations.


Dr. Talabi has authored twenty-nine  (29) computer studies textbooks, widely used across all levels of  education, from Nursery to Tertiary. The books are approved by  government and used nationwide. His latest publication, Data Protection and Cybersecurity Management: A Quick Reference Guide, is intended for practitioners and managers.


He  holds a BSc in Computer Science and Economics (Combined Honours) from  the Obafemi Awolowo University, an MBA in Banking and Finance from  Olabisi Onabanjo University, an MSc in Information Technology, and a PhD  in Cybersecurity from (ACETEL) National Open University of Nigeria  (NOUN). Additionally, he holds certifications as a Data Privacy  Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)  both from ISACA USA, Project Management Professional (PMP) from the  Project Management Institute (PMI USA), and is a member of the Computer  Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (MCPN).

As the “Founder and Father  of Credit Management” in Nigeria, Onalo has driven the country’s  transition towards a credit-based economy, promoting credit and  financial literacy, and responsible management of credit transactions  and compliance practices industry-wide.

  • Founded the Institute of Credit Administration (ICA), now the  National Institute of Credit Administration (NICA) chartered, which  inspired Nigeria’s Federal Government’s decision to formally proclaim  Credit Management a national profession with its qualifications  nationally and globally recognized, thus professionalizing credit  management and an academic course of study in Nigeria


  • Established the Postgraduate School of Credit and Financial  Management (PSCFM), offering professional advanced and postgraduate  studies in credit and financial management, accredited under NICA Act no  26 of 2022


  • Founded Credit Business Services Global Ltd (CBS), which provides  independent Company Credit Report (CCR) to guide any management  decisions to do or not to do business with a company as part of due  diligence. This is totally and broadly different from the credit bureau  report.


  • Developed expertise in credit guarantee scheme operations and  management, corporate credit policy drafting, and credit management  services provider’s accreditation


  • Designed informal sector credit administration training & certification programmes, enhancing financial inclusion


  • Created business owner self-creditworthiness assessment and  psychometric creditworthiness evaluation programmes, promoting  responsible borrowing, credit culture and people-centred national  economy.
